Is it because of divorce?

There’s a familiarity to a family post adult child estrangement. I recognize the awkward holidays, the broken traditions, the taking sides. Just like divorce.

I wonder if kids of divorce are more likely to estrange. And I wonder if they estrange in large part because of the changes that take place in a family because of divorce. Most of all, I wonder if they realize that their estrangement has the same effect on the family as a divorce.
